Dads Back Federal System

VICE Mayor Vicente Emano expressed his support for the change in the form of government in the country to a federal system.

In a press statement, the vice mayor said that although this is not the only solution and will not guarantee that problems in the country will be solved, he is optimistic that the change in the form of government will help minimize this."Samtang ako nagatuo nga dili gayod kini ang bugtong nga solusyon sa atong mga problema, apan dako ang sistemang federal og ikatabang sa kasulbaran sa daghan nato nga mga problema. …Bisan maayo unta, apan ako hugot nga nagatuo, malisod ang pagpalabang niini didto sa kauluhan," he cited. RESOLUTION, PROPOSALSFor its part, the City Council this morning adopted a resolution expressing its unequivocal support to Senate Joint Resolution No. 10, entitled: Joint Resolution to Convene Congress into a Constituent Assembly for the purpose of Revising the Constitution to establish a Federal System of Government.Assistant Majority Floor Leader Ian Mark Nacaya this morning, however, presented some proposals to be incorporated in the resolution.Among others, he said the local government units should be given the authority and power to regulate and control the operation of -public utility vehicles plying their respective authorities.The councilor, who chairs the committee on public utilities, said this mandate should be taken from the Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)Nacaya also supported the retention of funds collected by LGUs such as the fees collected by the Bureau of Fire, among others.Legislators will be submitting their respective proposals to be incorporated in the resolution.
