CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Graduates of maritime courses and those qualified for contact center work were given top priority during a job fair at the Gaisano mall last Wednesday.
Rodrigo A. Deloso of the Department of Labor and Employment’s regional office said various entities were tapped to inform graduates of maritime schools of employment opportunities.
Participating in the fair were Magsaysay-Mitsui O.S.K Marine Inc., and the Magsaysay Maritime Corp. which is granting scholarships for maritime courses.
Magsaysay spokesman Luis Go said the company has been offering scholarships to students of maritime schools nationwide including a few in Mindanao, such as the Mindanao Polytechnic College in General Santos City and Ozamiz Institute of Technology in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental.
Richmond A. Alfonso, a trainer for Arriba Telecontact, Inc., said his firm was in need of 150 call enter agents. Despite announcements about the opening for call center agents, the target has yet to be met, he said. - PLPC, Business World
