Mayor Jaraula Seeks Support From Media For Govt Efforts

City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula called on the members of the media to help the city government in running the affairs of the city and building a new Cagayan de Oro.

In last night’s induction of officers of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas where he was the guest speaker, Mayor Jaraula admitted that the role of managing a budding metropolis cannot be left alone in the hands of one man.

“I cant realize all these dreams without the support of KBP and other members of the media,” Mayor Jaraula pointed out.

The city chief executive emphasized the important role the media in informing the people about the programs and projects of the government and helping them understand how all these can benefit the entire population.

Mayor Jaraula explained that it is only when people understand the intentions of all the development efforts undertaken by the local government that they will support these efforts and help achieve the goals of such programs.

Mayor Jaraula, whose policy against sidewalk and street vending is not well-received by those affected vendors, told the media practitioners that it is a given fact that people will either like or dislike the policies of their leaders.

“In the end, what matters is that you do what is right and be consistent with what you believe because I know that there are still more people (in the world) who are reasonable than those who are unreasonable,” the city chief executive contended.

Mayor Jaraula is optimistic that with the support from the media, a lot of things can be done to build a new Cagayan de Oro that can be showcased to the global community as an ideal tourism and investment destination.

He likewise congratulated the KBP officers were sworn into office by Justice Edgardo Lloren of the Court of Appeals.

The new set of officers of the local KBP chapter are Tito Monterde of DXWZ-FM as chair; Allan Gonzaga of DXTR-FM as vice chair; Ryan Carbon of DXKB-FM as secretary; Corazon Cui of DXRJ-FM as treasurer; Allan Bajolo of DXBL-FM as auditor and Frank Mendez of ABC 5 as Standard Authority. Also sworn into office are KBP directors Albino Quinlog, Jr. of Bombo Radio for AM stations; Roy Villaro of RPN 9 for Television; and Victoria Uy of DXNU-FM for FM stations.
