Mayor Jaraula To Lead Dispersal Of 12,000 Tilapia

City Mayor Constantino G. Jaraula will lead on Tuesday, June 10, a ceremonial dispersal of some 12,000 Tilapia fingerlings at the Cagayan de Oro River as one of the highlights of the World Environment Month celebration.

Expected officials and guests who will join with Mayor Jaraula during the fingerling dispersal are Department of Environment and Natural Resources-X regional director Maximo Dichoso, Safer River Life Saver Foundation head Dr. Rosalina Huerbana, officials from the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Philippine National Police Maritime and the local government. The ceremonial dispersal of Tilapia fingerlings provided by BFAR will be held beside the Chemco canteen at the City Hall, shortly after the regular flag raising ceremony. Riverside barangays of Puntod, Kauswagan, Barangay 1, Barangay 6, Barangay 2, Macasandig, Balulang and Carmen will also conduct the same fingerling dispersal at about 6:00 o’clock in the morning. A coastal and river clean up all over the city will also be held within this month in order to drum up public consciousness and awareness on the city’s efforts along environmental protection and preservation.
