VYE Asks Public To Support Bantay Kawat Kable Drive

THE cooperation of everyone is necessary to thwart cable theft.

With this, Vice Mayor Vicente Emano is calling on the public to support the Bantay Kawat Kable campaign launched by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) and telephone companies in the city.The vice mayor who earlier pronounced that stealing of cable wires is tantamount to economic sabotage as it gravely affects the business climate in the city, said the cooperation of all is necessary to put a stop to such criminal activities."Dili gayod tiaw ang kahasol sa mga subscribers sa telepono ug ang alkanse sa mga telephone companies tungod sa grabeng kawat sa kable," he added.Based on reports, major telephone firms have already millions worth of losses due to the rampant cable theft.Misortel has already incurred a direct loss of P12 million, while Philcom lost some P8 million from cable theft.The unstopped cable theft has also prevented firms from pursuing expansion projects, The Power learned.With this, Vice Mayor Emano calls on the public to immediately call hotline number 255 so that local enforcers can immediately respond and arrest suspected cable thieves."Hinaot nga pinaagi niining Hotline 255, mahatagan sa solbad kining problema sa kawat sa kable," he added.
