Re: Why do you smoke?
i dont smoke...
sa akong pag ka balo people usually smoke beacuse of "ego"....
and another is tungod sa impluwensa sa mga elders...mga nkakatanda...thats y bata ba kusog na mo yosi then...because of tv ads.
...thats it!

I agree. During college, I tend to smoke kay ga-smoke man ako mga katropa. We smoke pa jud sa likod sa library, tanaw2x sa kalinaw sa suba hehehe... Pero, sumo man! Di ko malipay. So sila ra ang gapadayon. Same pud sa inum. Medyo wala na kaayo karon. Actually, it depends on you na on how to deal with it. If you think you seem OP if you don't do what the majority does, aw bahala ka.. Always remember, the group exists because of individuals. Pangit sad kaayo kung sa isa ka grupo pareho na lang tanan. boring sad kaayo di ba? hahaha.. bahala na KSP pa ka. basta di lang ka hassle kauban.

Re: Why do you smoke?
I've been smoking for decades, I think it starts out similar to the way people start drinking, or at least it used to be that way, to be cool, to be " in " , to be part of the crowd. Those reasons are from a past era where at least half of the population smoked and all of the dangers of it were not as known or publicised as they are today. Although many have been able to kick the habit, it is easier for some than others. I have tried unsuccessfully several times myself.
Reasearch has indicated that once you are addicted to nicotine, it is not that smoking makes you feel good or brings on a feeling of satisfaction, the reason to continue smoking is that it overcomes the withdrawl symptoms of the dose of nicotine since your last cigarette. There are many other reasons as well. Yes I still enjoy a cigarette especially with a cup of coffee or a beer or a mixed drink.
Today however it is a total reversal of the era when at least half ( if not more ) of the population smoked. Smoking is no longer the cool thing to do and socially it puts you in the " out " crowd instead of in the " in " crowd. The so called " second hand smoke " scare also has caused a lot of concern amoungst the general population and in more places and in more countries smoking in public places including Bars is being totally banned !
Now if the high taxation on tobacco products isn't bad enough here is another way smoking can hurt you in the wallet. Many employers no longer want to employ people that smoke. Lets say you are looking for a job. You go for an interview and the interviewer smells tobacco smoke on you ( non smokers can smell it a mile away ) You may think the interview went well but as soon as you leave the interviewer your application for the job may end up in the paper shredder. More and more employers don't want to hire people that smoke !
Today there are many things to " help " people kick the nicotine addiction and the mental addiction. Some of these " helpers " work for some people and not for others. In a discussion with a Doctor they told me that all of these " helpers " are just that, " Helpers " , you really have to use your own mind and will power to kick the nicotine habit.
I am not posting this for the reason of telling anyone not to smoke or to quit, I am only giving some of my own experiences and observations based over the last decade or so. More than likely I am from a generation prior to many those using this forum which was a generation where over half the population smoked and it was more acceptable than it is today.
Like many of the things I grew up with, Smoking is becomming more and more a thing of the past and it's just not the " in " or " Cool " thing to do these days, it's going the same way as Vinyl Records and 8 track tapes for playing music, Typewriters, Mimeograph Machines, Black & White ( non-color ) TV , and so many other things of " the past " .

Re: Why do you smoke?
i dont smoke.. sooo i really can't answer why i smoke.
the question of the poll is kinda wrong though
since those people who answered "no" can't supply the "why do you smoke" question.
comprende?
the options of the poll should be....
a. out of habit
b. influenced by peers
c. to look cool and macho (especially men)
d. to purposely die while early...
e. the hell you care why i smoke.. i own my lungs so i can do whatever i please with it...
hahah well just my thoughts...
just my bitter side talking since i hate smoking...

hehehe... lipat si chunsa.. gikan lang siguro ni hithit o.. joke.
there's a poll question there. Do you smoke? beneath the topic title.
@topic. I do not smoke. I used to smoke during college pero during shot2x lang or pakisama lang. pero not once na naenjoy ako sa pagssmoke, I mean, walang effect. Di nakakaadik. I pretended or convinced myself it's cool to smoke pero luckily, DI KO SIYA TRIP.
Ahh.. one good thing diay for me.. medyo mawala ang ka-bidli sa hard liquor kung magssmoke samut na kung menthol pa jud hehehe.
