COUNCILOR Ian Mark Nacaya this morning announced that the city will soon sign a memorandum of agreement with the Cagayan de Oro Police Office and different barangays.

He said under the MOA, qualified barangays will be given supervisory power over PNP members who will be fielded in their jurisdiction.Barangay chairmen will have supervision of the PNP members to oversee operations and protective measures the barangay may undertake, he added.Nacaya, who chairs the City Council committee on police, is optimistic that through this program, the COCPO will be able to implement its 95-percent formula of police visibility.Under this, 95-percent of the police will be fielded in the streets with only five percent remained in precincts for administration purposes.He said this is the first time that the COCPO will be detailing personnel with supervisory power given to barangays.The councilor is optimistic that this will pave the way for a stronger peace and order campaign in the city.The Power learned that the committee held a series of meetings with barangay officials and the COCPO to discuss the program.
